I have a wonderful friend that I used to work with who is by far the hardest working person that I know. He works harder than any physician, any scholar, or CEO that I know. And when I say he works, HE WORKS. Serious, Focused, Intense, and Grueling. He is a stickler for rules, and a model employee. He’s a boy scout: soup to nuts, no shortcuts. And he hasn’t had a promotion or raise in 5 years. He is constantly underappreciated and overlooked. Now that would be bad enough, but the amazing part is that he appears content with it. He doesn’t ever complain. Now I’m not in the business of telling people when they are unhappy but seeing his situation showed me what I don’t want to accept for my life. I want my hard work to allow me to accomplish more, Contribute more, and Create more. What do you observe around you that you don’t want to accept for your life? Action Steps 1. Acknowledge what you Don’t want. Sometimes you see others doing things that you don’t want. You see them not only living small but in a way that drains passion and inspiration. Recognize when you are exhibiting those negative traits and change your course. 2. Articulate what you Do want. You need to know what you are working towards. What do you want your life to look like? What passions are you chasing? 3. Use a critical eye to determine which track you are on. If you aren’t moving towards your goals, You are moving away from them. You want to make an impact. It's time to get on track. Wanting more is not selfish or greedy. The more money you have, the more you can give to those in need. The more power you have, the more you can influence great things to happen. Make a Passionate Impact!
